IN THIS Sunday’s reading, an angel appears to Mary with a wondrous announcement, that she is full of grace and God chooses her, that she may bring Christ into the world. Her response is “be it done unto me according to your word.” We too are to pattern our response to God on Mary’s response and to witness to Christ present in our world. But in a another unique way we are also called to share this wondrous news as the Angel Gabriel did, to remind people that they too are blessed by God.
Fr Robert Rivers states: “It is the job of all Catholics to invite all people to hear the message of salvation. People’s responses, however, are up to God. We Catholics actually have the easy part. Both the proclaiming of the message of salvation and the response of the listeners are works of the Spirit of God. The power of God is what converts. We must learn to trust in God’s power to evangelize and play our part, by inviting people to hear the message of the gospel.
For my New Years project I would like to get to know each of you better and share our faith together. Let me come to visit you, we can eat together and share our faith. Let me know if you would welcome a visit from me.
