We were so pleased to have had a visit last week from Ann Daye, looking fit and feeling chipper – her old self again! She would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, notes of encouragement and prayers and she asks that you remember her as she starts the second leg of her “journey” this coming week.
“May the Divine Physician keep you in His loving care, Ann “. Fr. Stephen.

Laugh every day – it’s like inner jogging!

FEBRUARY 2nd – World Day for Consecrated Life
Celebration of the “World Day for Consecrated Life” is intended to help the entire Church to esteem ever more greatly the witness of those persons who have chosen to follow Christ by means of the practice of the evangelical counsels and, at the same time, is intended to be a suitable occasion for consecrated persons to renew their commitment to God. We, here, at St. Willibrord’s give thanks for the presence in our Parish of the C.N.D. Sisters who have made, and continue to make, such a great contribution to our Parish community. Let us keep them, and all consecrated members in our prayers on this special day.

In keeping with the ongoing celebration of the Year of the Priest, the following is an insight into the life of the late Pope John Paul II: he once celebrated Mass in an open field in Poland. The weather was not very good so, after Mass, everyone immediately left. A Priest, who happened to be left behind, decided to check the field sacristy and there he found Cardinal Wojtyla on his knees, doing his thanksgiving after Mass.

Among the invocations dear to the late Pope was “Jesu, Pontifex qui tradidisti temetipsum Deo oblationem et hostiam” which means “Jesus, High Priest who gave Yourself to God as offering and victim have mercy on us”. How frequently he repeated this invocation. It expresses clearly the profoundly priestly character of his whole life. He never made a mystery of his desire to become increasingly one with Christ the Priest through the Eucharistic Sacrifice, a source of tireless apostolic dedication.

Let us keep our clergy in prayer during this special year.
