Last May 2012, I was asked the question from our new Archbishop Christian Lépine, “If you were sent to study, what topic of interest would you choose?”. I told him about my interest in Spiritual Psychology. He suggested studies in Spirituality, which would look at the great spiritual traditions in the church and prepare me to become a Director of Spiritual Formation. In July of last year, I took my vacation in Rome and had a chance to look at the programs at the universities there. Even though studies were a possibility, I received no indication throughout the rest of the year that I would be sent. Some good friends told me though to keep this idea and God’s will in my prayer. I resigned myself to do whatever the Lord wills and be at the disposal of the Archbishop. Recently the Archbishop called me to his office for a five minute meeting. I believed it was to be concerning my work with vocations. He shared with me then that he wanted me to go to Rome and study in Spirituality this coming September. Vocations and Spiritual Direction, as you know, have been a major part of my ministry first, as Spiritual
Director to the Montreal Challenge Movement and then as Director of Vocations for Montreal since 2010. So it is with sadness that I will be leaving the parish, but in joy I will be taking on a new endeavor to prepare myself for a new mission. The four years spent with you have been a true blessing in my life and I give thanks to God for all of you. I will carry you all in heart and in my prayers.
