Famous Thoughts on Prayer
“Like all good things, prayer requires some discipline. Yet I believe that life with God should seem more like friendship than duty. Prayer includes moments of ecstasy and also dullness, mindless distraction and acute concentration, slashes of joy and bouts of irritation. In other words, prayer has features in common with all relationships that matter.”
The Daniel Fast – Reward
After studying Isaiah 58 you might feel totally incapable of fulfilling such high standards. Don’t despair! The Lord knows that we can’t do it on our own. Isaiah says “Then you will call, and the Lord will answer: you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.” (Isa 58:9) The Lord promises to guide us, to satisfy our needs and to strengthen us (v.11). He assures us that obedience in fasting results in blessing, healing, and protection. Finally, the Lord says we will find our joy in him. Can’t think of a better reward!
On Sunday March 24 after the 10:30am Mass, will be having a seder meal to help us truly get into the spirit of Holy Week, following in the footsteps of Jesus. Come and discover the richness and fullness of our Jewish roots as they tie into our Lord’s Supper.
