Famous Thoughts on Prayer
“Work as if you were to live a hundred years, pray as if you were to die tomorrow.”
~Benjamin Franklin

The Daniel Fast – Compassion
Fasting is both upward and inward. Upward in the sense that your focus is on the Lord and his Word, inward because you are bringing your needs before the Lord in prayer. Isaiah 58 shows us that fasting should be outward, demonstrated through acts of compassion. Verse 7 describes how God want us to reach out in his name. It’s a response of action. The resources that God has given us are not bestowed upon us merely for our enjoyment. God intends for us to use them to bless others. Verse 10 says that for our fasts to be acceptable, we must “spend” ourselves “in behalf of the hungry.” We must get involved and respond to the hurting people God places in our paths. With his compassion, we can help satisfy the needs of those he wants us to touch, both physically and spiritually. During your fast seek the Lord’s direction. Ask him to give you opportunities to bless others, and then get ready, because he will!
