Stewardship: Allowing for Community Growth .
Part 2

Stewardship asks of us to make sure we return a portion of our wealth to the Lord. This is called sacrificial giving, and it as three parts. First, in gratitude to the Lord we return to him a portion of everything we receive, whether through inheritance, paycheck, investments, unexpected windfalls, allowances, or social security check. Secondly, your return must have a certain bite to it, it really means a sacrifice. Thirdly, we must get specific about the size of your donation. Many consider the biblical norm called a 'tithe', that is ten percent of ones gross income, meaning the initial ten cents per dollar earned. Of that ten percent half could go to the parish Sunday collection and the other half to people in need, such as catholic schools, diocesan collection, development and peace, pillars trust, aide to the church in need, and many of the other charitable organizations you know of. Some suggest giving one hour’s wages as your Sunday offering.
Stewardship, living requires a leap of faith, it isn't something you do, it is the way you live. It is about answering the call to renew the face of the world. Let us ponder on this maxim: "As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, and return with increase to the Lord."

Fr. Cameron’s Birthday
On May 28th Fr. Cameron will be turning 80, and to celebrate this milestone, we will have a card available at the back of the church for you to sign with your birthday wishes. Knowing Fr. Cameron to be a humble person, we thought he would not mind if you wished to offer a mass of thanksgivings in his name to be celebrated here at the church. We will make sure he receives all your intentions and wishes in time for his birthday

Operation Clean Up
We have been invited to participate in the 21st edition of “Operation Clean-up” on Saturday May 5th . We would be joining Mayor Claude Trudel, Henri-Francois Gautrin and other members of council. The organizers will welcome us at 8:30am at 7000 Lasalle Blvd, (the greenhouse). The city will provide lunch and the day should end at about 1pm. We hope you will make a big effort to join us as it will not only help a good cause but also make St. Willibrord very visible amid the Verdun community.

“…With goodwill doing service, as to Lord….knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord…” (Eph 6:7-8)
